contra
Contra, also known as Probotector or Gryzor in Europe and Oceania, is a 1987 run and gun action game developed and published by Konami. Initially released as a coin-operated arcade game on February 20, 1987, it later became available for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988, with additional ports for various computer formats like the MSX2. The game is set in a futuristic or alternate Earth where two commandos, Bill 'Mad Dog' Rizer and Lance 'Scorpion' Bean, are tasked with stopping the Red Falcon Organization. The player navigates through stages equipped with a rifle, capable of shooting in eight directions, and must avoid instant death from enemy attacks. The game offers both side-scrolling and 3D maze stages and can be played solo or in cooperative mode, although the European Gryzor release only supports alternating turns between players.
